Rock Solid Attributes®for Petrel®
E&P's favorite seismic attribute package now available for Petrel®.
Rock Solid Attributes (RSA) is perhaps the best-known suite of poststack seismic attributes. These attributes are invaluable for understanding and interpreting your reservoir and are now coming to Petrel, as an integrated plug-in.
Rock Solid Attributes® for Petrel® feature list:
- Rock Solid Guide™: “Geophysics for Geologists” - no training required.
- Highest-quality attribute computation algorithms
- Attributes compute in the background so you can return to Petrel
- Attribute optimized colorbars
- Batch processing
- Returns results automatically to the data tree
- Easily recall parameters for future use
- Multi-scenario capability

Rock Solid Guide™
RSA is more than an attribute computation engine; the new companion Rock Solid Guide ™ tool is designed around reservoir type and hydrocarbon system components to assist the user in the selection of the attributes best suited to a specific interpretation setting. The Rock Solid Guide ™ provides the interpreter with a technical feature description for each attribute that outlines the mathematical formulation of the attribute, it’s utility to the interpreter, a recommended color bar and a set of published technical references.

Optimized Colorbars
Having interpreted derived attributes from hundreds of datasets, we understand the importance of using colorbars optimized for interpretation. Standard colorbars rarely capture the subtleties in seismic data, nor do they accentuate objects of geological interest. This is why we provide optimized colorbars as part of the Rock Solid Attributes.

Here we see Relative Acoustic Impedance (which can highlight higher porosity and stratigraphic edge-like sequence boundaries) with a standard colorbar (left), and with the same colorbar flipped, thresholded, and an opacity applied (right). Channel sands now stand out nicely.
