Overall Purpose of Role:

The primary focus for this role is the performance seismic data analysis and the integration of multiple geophysical data types in seismic reservoir characterization projects, including but not limited to seismic data conditioning, seismic/well tie and wavelet extraction, impedance inversion, AVO inversion, interpretation of pay signatures and volume visualization. A high level of interaction is required working in multi-disciplinary teams which include petrophysicists, geologists and EM specialists.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • In consultation with Senior Geophysicist or Technical Advisor apply leading edge seismic quantitative interpretation methods on projects for clients.
  • Perform quality control procedures to ensure high quality product that will enable clients to make sound exploration, development and production decisions.
  • Coordinate with fellow team members.
  • Participate in client meetings in order to understand project scope and client requirements.
  • Contribute to integration of petrophysical and geophysical models bases on seismic, EM and borehole interpretations.
  • Perform assigned tasks according to timelines that will reflect client and RSI requirements.
  • Contribute to and present intermediate and final project reports.
  • Develop experience in RSI methods and workflows
  • Develop sufficient knowledge of other core RSI disciplines (Petrophysics, Geology, EM) to understand their contribution to integrated products.
  • Identify technology improvement needed and work with Production and R&D department to address needs
  • Prepare and present scientific papers, oral presentations and attend professional conferences
  • Assist with marketing products and services for RSI, with emphasis on seismic quantitative interpretation methods
  • Other duties as assigned by manager
Requirements:
  • BS/MS or PhD in Geology/Geophysics, mathematics or physical science
  • 2-4 years’ experience in seismic inversion and AVO analysis required
  • Ability to incorporate sub-surface data into seismic interpretations
  • Effective communicator
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Must have current authorization to work in the US
  • English language required, Spanish useful
Desirable Background:
  • Experience in seismic data processing and data analysis, inversion techniques, advance processing flows, spectral decomposition, angle and far/near offset stacking and other techniques for visualization and interpretation of seismic data
  • Experience working in a production environment
  • Familiar with principles behind building a shared earth model
