Geologist/Quantitative Interpreter - Careers - Company
Overall Purpose of Role:
The Geologist/Quantitative Interpreter is responsible for performing geological and geophysical interpretation on seismic data, impedance inversion data, and pre and post-stack attribute data, as necessary. Also will be required to build and refine earth models from a combination of well, seismic, geological, EM and other potential fields data types.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Integrate a wide range of rock, petrophysical, and seismic data to evaluate geologic structural elements.
- Prepare structural and petrophysical maps and cross-sections to support assessment efforts.
- Construct 3D geological models with the appropriate information to support your interpretations.
- Make technically and economically sound recommendations with available information.
- Communicate and interact with team members effectively and participate in periodic reviews, project planning, and in presentations to management.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with client technical staff.
- Develop and maintain an active role in monitoring and applying lessons learned from industry and academia.
- Practice good time management skills.
- Mentor and train less experienced staff and actively transfer ideas and knowledge.
- Must be passionate about the effective use of technology and work processes that promote structural geology and fracture modeling.
- Other duties as assigned by manager.
Requirements:
- BSc or equivalent in a related geo-science discipline (geology, physics or geophysics) or mathematics.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the O&G industry.
- Mapping and interpretation experience.
- Strong geologic knowledge and technical concepts needed for geologic structural, geologic stratigraphical and fracture network analyses.
- Experience in the appraisal and development of clastic, carbonate and unconventional reservoirs.
- Experience in visualization and quantitative analysis of 3D seismic data (amplitude, AVO/AVA, AVAZ, impedance and elastic properties volumes).
- Proven experience and knowledge of well log evaluation and analysis, the geologic interpretation of seismic data and the integration of other static and dynamic reservoir data.
- Excellent Paradigm and/or Petrel knowledge.
- Must be efficient and able to meet deadlines while managing multiple assigned projects, as well as be able to work independently and in a team environment.
- Self-motivated and able to work on own initiative with minimal direct supervision.
- Effective report writing and excellent communication skills.
