Overall Purpose of Role:
Contribute to need-driven research as well as service projects in the areas of seismic and electromagnetic reservoir characterization and monitoring. The role requires a working knowledge of seismic processing, seismic inversion algorithms, processes and practice, and seismic attribute analysis. The successful candidate will have an intuitive feel for seismic data. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Contribute to need-driven geophysical research in areas including (but not limited to) seismic processing and inversion, seismic attributes, and the use of their derivative products in seismic and geological reservoir characterization.
- Assist in technical service projects with the analysis, interpretation, and integration of well, seismic, electromagnetic with other analysis products. Involves periodic interfacing with clients on technical topics.
Requirements:
- BS in Geophysics, mathematics or physical sciences. MS in Geophysics. PhD-level candidates are welcome.
- 1-2 years’ experience at minimum. Candidates with more experience are welcome.
- Background in the use of 3D seismic data and seismic inversion for reservoir characterization.
- Working knowledge of seismic inversion algorithms and seismic attributes.
- Effective communication and team player.
- Knowledge of scientific programming (Fortran/C++/Matlab).
- Must have current authorization to work in the US.
Desirable Background:
- Quantification and characterization of uncertainty
- Familiarity with the principles behind building a shared earth model
