Rock Physicist - Careers - Company
Overall Purpose of Role:
Contribute to the development of RSI’s proprietary rock physics, seismic and CSEM modelling software (iMOSS™) by developing new rock physics models, workflows and testing new tools and functionality within the software. To work within the R&D team and help deliver R&D and production projects on time and in budget. Develop training course material/projects and conduct training for internal and external users. Become a proficient user of the software and liaise with the developers and production staff. The role requires a knowledge of rock physics and petrophysics and the ability to work in a team. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Developing rock physics models and workflows for implementation in iMOSS.
- Become an expert iMOSS user.
- Testing new rock physics models and tools in iMOSS.
- Build iMOSS training manuals and conducting training courses.
- Write short and long technical documents for internal and external circulation.
- Development of technical marketing material and communicating new technology to both internal and external users.
- Liaise with internal and external clients for iMOSS support.
Requirements:
- MSc (PhD preferred) in geophysics, mathematics or physical sciences.
- Good written and spoken English.
- Background in rock physics and rock physics modelling.
- Effective communication and team player.
- Knowledge of Matlab (Fortran/C++ an advantage).
- Must have current authorization to work in the US.
